Do you think the ability to manipulate the font size allows the reader replace large print books?
As claimed? For example, I read the font size on the Kindle goes up to 20pt.
But thats black against a grey background.
A friend is wondering whether to get one of these for their mom-with-poor-eyesight.

Well, one thing to remember about boosting the font size on the Kindle: That means less words per page. I set mine to a fairly large font size, but truthfully I do find it kind of irritating to have to keep pressing that stupid "Next page" button every few seconds. I know that doesn't bother other people, though.

Ernie, I asked this question on my facebook page and here's the first answer:   I got a Kindle for my mother for that very reason. She had been struggling with one book for six months. I downloaded it the Kindle for her, and she had it finished in a week and a half (it was a big book). I opted for the Kindle instead of subscribing to a large print book club because any book she wants to read becomes a large print edition. The selection of existing large print books is very limited. I say go for it!
