One of my co-workers read this story yesterday and quipped, "Gee, guess her Jesus novels stopped selling!"

I dont know Ms Rice, and Ive had conflicted feelings about her literary legacy for a long time. Ive never had the sense, however, that her sudden reverses in gear, and lurches in new and surprising personal and creative directions, were motivated by a desire to sell more books or go on The View and tell her life story to the world.
