Hello All,

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents on this wonderful art book.  If you have not yet looked at this book or have even bought it, it is worth your time.  If you have a signed copy and got to meet Basil it was worth the time and energy to be at the signing.  This book covers his art work and also edited wonderfully.  Not too thrilled about Rob Zombie doing the intro.  But you got to remember that Basil did some of his album covers.  For me not being around the time when Famous Monsters of Filmland was a big magazine with his wonderful painted covers this is a treat to have this book and also to spend time talking with him about one of his favorite monsters and mine The Creature From The Black Lagoon.  This book was available in a number limited slipcase, hardcover, and also a soft trade cover.  Signed or unsigned this is a wonderful book to own and to have with so many of the classic monsters paintings and also non-horror paintings inside.  This book will be right next to my Clive Barkers Vision of Heaven and Hell art book.

Yep, it's great. I am one of those who grew up with FAMOUS MONSTERS, and I remember being 6 or so and gazing lovingly on each new Basil Gogos cover for hours...! A long overdue book.

Basil is one of my faves.  I love the way he uses his colors. Has he ever done 1 sheet artwork?  I wish todays movie 1 sheets would be painted like they were in the 60s and 70s.  Can you imagine the wonderful artwork we could be hanging on our walls instead of photos of the actors all lined up in a row? Have to say I like the Pan's Labyrinth posters I've been seeing though.

Basil told me today that he did (I believe) at least five one-sheets. They are mentioned in his book. I know he worked on the Missouri Breaks with Brando in it.
